(Studio) Supreme Court rules on abortion.
REPORTER: Walter Cronkite
(DC) Chief Justice Warren Burger and Justices Byron White and William Rehnquist dissent. Justice Harry Blackmun gave major opinion, as he did in 1973. Court declares unconst.: laws requiring husband's or parents' consent; law forbidding saline injection technique, and law making doctors liable for all fetal deaths. Court upholds law requiring doctors to save babies born alive and law that requires women to consent to abortion in writing.
