(Studio) Cancer researchers testify before Senator select committee on nutrition.

(DC) Researchers say diet plays key role in cancer of colon, stomach and breast. [Dep. Director National Cancer Institute Dr. Gio GORI - says certain dietary imbalances may lead to development of cancer.] [Chairperson Senator George McGOVERN - asks if bad eating habits cause cancer more than smoking.] [GORI - says yes for females; rate is equivalent for men.] Excessive alcohol consumption considered factor in some cancers. [Professor of nutrition Harvard University Dr. Mark HEGSTED - notes diet that Americans should follow.] Nutrition may be used as cancer therapy.
