(Studio) Atomic Energy Commission to explode underground nuclear device Thursday on Amchitka Island in Aleutians. Controversy in AK, Canada, Hawaii, and Japan.

(Amchitka Island) Some scientists fear earthquake or tidal wave as result of blast. Atomic Energy Commission does not. Protest in Anchorage due to earlier earthquake. [Head Joint Committee Atomic Energy Representative Chet HOLIFIELD - says he'll be a short distance from blast. No risk.] AEC not worried about danger to wildlife. Says danger within "acceptable limits."
