(Studio) After convs., candidates must begin courting voters. Campaigns cost money and there are new rules regulating this.

(DC) 1972 campaign expenditures noted. Reporter cites federal laws governing amt. of taxpayers money candidates can use and how much ptys. can raise. Laws with regard to labor unions and corps. spending noted. [UAW ntl political director William DODDS - notes some complications of law, but says he thinks it's good to have it in open.] Other laws with regard to individuals and separate political cmtes. noted. [1972 national Republican chairperson Kansas Senator Robert DOLE - says it removes candidate from having to attend certain functions for contributors of certain amts. 1976 campaign will be test for public campaign financing and its ability to prevent abuses such as previous ones.]
