(Studio) CIA Director George Bush says worst over in long series of revelations re: illegal CIA activity.
REPORTER: Walter Cronkite
(Reston, Virginia) Bush tells retired agency officers that criticism has run its course. [BUSH - says talk of dismantling agency has died and recruitment and quality of recruits up.] Bush notes problems with foreign agencies because of revelations, but says it's passing. [BUSH - says those on whom United States depends most for cooperation have continued to do so.] Bush says Congress now looking for ways to help things work better.
