(Studio) Men in Korean War from Vandergrift, Pennsylvania, noted; 5 killed, all others but 1 returned. Now he has come back.
REPORTER: Walter Cronkite

(Vandergrift, Pennsylvania) Report on Jim Veneris, prisoners of war during Korean War who chose to stay with Chinese. Present life in China (P.R.) noted. Veneris denies being used by Chinese to promote Sino-US relations and says Chinese love American people. [VENERIS - says United States has lot of good, some bad things; is confident country will solve problems. Says United States still his cntry.; cites reasons for going to China.] Homecoming hasn't been all good; Veterans of Foreign Wars post has had calls warning them to keep Veneris away. [Veterans of Foreign Wars MBR. - says Communists sent Veneris here to infiltrate.] Veneris hopes to bring family to United States for visit before returning to China for rest of life.
