(New Jersey) New Jersey Central railroad bankrupt. Carries 15,000 commuters daily. State subsidy keeps service alive. [Commuter Fred KAELI - says service worse and prices higher on RR.] State tells New Jersey Central to consolidate with 2 other New Jersey RR's to eliminate needless competition. [New Jersey Trans. Commissioner John KOHL - consol. good economy for RR's.] Growing national consensus government intervention necessary to keep RR's operating.
