(Studio) In New York City suburb of New Rochelle today, man shoots and kills self after killing 5 and wounding 5; scene is moving company where gunman used to work. Gunman rptdly. fan of Adolf Hitler.

(New Rochelle, New York) Incident takes place at Neptune Worldwide Moving Company; gunman identified as Fred Cowan, former employee. [Witness William KOSKELO - describes Cowan's 1st actions.] [Witness Tony BASCIANO - describes his mtg. with Cowan.] 10 hrs. after drama began, it ended with Cowan pulling gun and killing self.

(New Rochelle, New York) Background report on Cowan, who graduated from parochial high school in White Plains, New York, went to college 1 year, served with Army and then worked for Neptune Moving Company Co-workers at company express shock at Cowan's action. [Mike CERETTA - cites impressions of Cowan.] Cowan's hobby of weightlifting noted; he tattooed self with iron crosses and Nazi swastikas, showed gun collection to neighborhood children. [Neighbor John O'KEEFE - describes collection.] Cowan made no secret of biases. [Neighbor Rebecca SHERMAN - speaks of Cowan's feelings re: blacks, Jews, Germans.] [WOMAN - describes Cowan's apparent emotional condition Sunday] In Army, Cowan served in West Germany.
