(NYC) Case of disappearance of Dr. Robert Abrams cited. [Roberta ABRAMS - says it bothers children that father abandoned family; neither she nor they understand it.] Children David and Susan mentioned. Figs. with regard to runaway fathers noted. Louis Hays is deputy director of HEW's Office of Child Support Enforcement. [HAYS - says it's no longer only welfare, but middle-class problem as well.] [WOMAN - questions caller with regard to child support.] [MAN - calls person to ask location of neighbor.] Figs. for missing fathers and location workers in Los Angeles Cnty., California, and NYC noted. Department of Health, Education and Welfare estimates of welfare savings to find men cited. Federal legislature with regard to issue cited, especially parent locator service, which can use Social Security and IRS (Internal Revenue Service) information Roberta Abrams search for ex-husband cited; finally found him on own, let federal agency know and they couldn't locate him. [Roberta ABRAMS - asks how she could find him and federal agency couldn't.] Future report noted.
