(Studio) With FDA (Food and Drug Administration) ban on saccharin, diabetics and weight-watchers may soon turn to new-old artificial sweetener.

(Los Angeles, California) Substance in rind of grapefruit is, when hydrogen added, sweeter than sugar; was discovered in government lab 16 years ago. [Dr. Robert HOROWITZ - describes how sweetener discovered.] Substance is called neo-DHC. Agriculture Department continued tests and so far have found no harmful side effects. Demands for use have already been made; government to continue tests and if FDA (Food and Drug Administration) gives approval neo-DHC, "grapefruit sweetener," could be on market in 6 mos.
