(Studio) United States trade embargo is major obstacle to resuming normal relations with Cuba.
REPORTER: Roger Mudd
(Havana, Cuba) Report on embargo and its effects. Castro says partial lifting, to allow food and medicine in, is necessary preliminary to talks with regard to resuming relations President Carter has indicated he's willing to do this. Castro's views on embargo noted. At present, Cuba gets rice from China (PR), does 2/3 of trade with USSR and is unable to pay Japan and other creditors.
