(Studio) President Carter's shifting of United States policy on Palestinian question and reaction to this from President Sadat and Prime Min. Begin noted.

(Aswan, Egypt) Report on meeting between Carter and Sadat at Aswan. [SADAT - states that views of both leaders are identical and certain steps have been agreed upon.] [CARTER - says Palestinian rights must be recognized and that some flexibility is always needed.] Potential effects of outcome of mtg. detailed. West bank mentioned.

(Aswan, Egypt) [SADAT - says Carter, Begin and self near in talks; states that outcome of self-determination is independent Palestinian state.] Egyptian President's statements with regard to no Israeli response to own trip to Jerusalem and request to Carter to help get this noted. [SADAT - is asking Israelis to recognize Palestinians as a people. Such declaration, with other points, would be fitting return gesture for trip to Jerusalem.] Dispute over agenda for discussions in Jerusalem later in January cited. [SADAT - has agreed with Carter on certain points and Carter will contact Israelis. Rejects idea of Jewish settlements in Egyptian territory.] Sadat's expected visit from King Hussein of Jordan and perhaps visit from Begin after Jerusalem talks begin noted.
