(DC) Victory for president Carter in Committee vote on state and local gasoline tax&defeat for President in vote on similar measure for state and local sales tax reported [Representative Barber CONABLE - says committee has insisted on knowing where cuts will be before supporting elimination of deductions.] [Representative J.J. PICKLE - doesn't think there'll be meaningful bill. Says things should be kept much as they are.] [Representative Al ULLMAN - notes lack of sentiment for reforms.] Carter's meeting with tax reform supporters mentioned. [CARTER - says officials in Washington, DC don't hear from people affected by tax laws.]
