(DC) Background on Allen given; films and photos shown. Allen's death during vacation and planned funeral services in his hometown of Gadsden, Alabama, mentioned. Governor George Wallace's news conference refusal to answer questions with regard to appointed of Allen's successor reported [WALLACE - won't discuss any aspects involving appointed of Allen's successor. Will do duty under Constitution.] Speculation that interim appointed might go to Allen's wife, noted. Is stated that seat would be filled in election in November which will see contest also for Alabama senate seat being vacated by retiring Senator John Sparkman; Wallace aides' indications that governor not intd. in filling Allen's place himself mentioned.
