(Studio) Ford Motors' plans to change design of automatic transmissions in autos. in 1980 model year reported Federal officials' suspicion that transmission defects have caused accidents noted. Car models affected incl. Fords, Lincolns and Mercurys. Elkhart, IN, judge's denial of Ford Motors motion to dismiss criminal chgs. lodged after fatal Pinto crash last summer stated.
