(Studio) Report with regard to questions raised by Three Mile Island accident pertaining to shipment of nuclear materials around country introduced
REPORTER: Walter Cronkite
(DC) Inadequate shipping procedures involving plutonium and enriched uranium, discussed in General Accounting Office report, examined. Present regulations noted covering only large shipments; vulnerability of smaller shipments to terrorist elements cited. General Accounting Office criticism of radiation standards, abnormally high, presently allowed during shipment process stated. Lack of independent verification of standards noted. Recommendations stated.
