REPORTER: Roger Mudd

(DC) Inflation said remaining President Carter's economy priority. [CARTER - says he's determined to maintain responsible fiscal policy.] Miller allegedly already attempting to seize control of administration economy group; details given. [MILLER - says we've inherited distressing economy environmental] Volcker's conservatism noted in light of reason for his selection by Carter. Carter's campaign promises in 1976 with regard to inflation and unemployment recalled; present levels of each cited.
