(Studio) Absence of AFL-CIO president George Meany at meeting today noted.

(Chicago, Illinois) Absence of Meany from Chicago meeting of executive committee due to illness and possibility of Lane Kirkland, Treasury-Secretary, succeeding him should he decide not to seek reelec., considered. Films shown. [KIRKLAND - says if he's nominated he will run.] Meany said giving no hint as to decision; criticisms of Kirkland outlined. [KIRKLAND - comments on Meany.] Committee said supporting most of administration's energy program and favoring compulsory health insurance; committee said not supporting any pol. candidate President Carter mentioned.
