(Studio) Officials said still ignorant with regard to fate of missing uranium from Tennessee plant.
REPORTER: Walter Cronkite

(DC) NRC recalled as closing Erwin, Tennessee, plant upon learning of missing fuel; past incidents involving missing uranium and shutdown of plant noted. Concern of officials with regard to missing fuel and spate of do-it-yourself bomb instructions cited. [NRC spokesperson William DIRCKS - comments.] Incident in 1960's involving nation's only other enriched uranium processing plant recalled; possibility that missing fuel ended up in Israel considered.
