(Studio) President Carter's stopover in Anchorage, AK, en route to Tokyo for funeral services for Prime Min. Masayoshi Ohira noted; films shown. Carter said having 1st meeting with China (PR) premier Hua Guofeng while in Tokyo.

(Tokyo, Japan) Hua's previous trip to Japan recalled; implication for USSR of Carter-Hua meeting in Japan cited. Films shown. Summit said expected to deal with USSR invasion of Afghanistan, Cambodia, boycott of Moscow Olympics; lack of formal agreements due to reason for visit by Carter and Hua mentioned. Authorities here said seeing Carter's stopover in Detroit as deliberate attempt to get Japanese government to curb auto exports to US; acting Prime Min. Masayoshi Ito said not bringing up subject unless Carter does. Details given.
