(Studio) Tension mounts between California growers' Teamsters Union and AFL-CIO backed Farm Workers Union headed by Cesar Chavez. AFL-CIO head George Meany and Teamster president Frank Fitzsimmons try to work out problems.

(DC) [MEANY - states considerable progress made in meeting with Teamster pres.] [FITZSIMMONS - says progress made in meeting No other comment.] To save union, Chavez concedes 2 major weapons to Teamsters Union.

(San Joaquin Valley, California) Cesar Chavez began Farm Workers Union with Kennedy family backing and AFL-CIO's George Meany support. Powerful Teamsters Union moves in and takes over grape growers' contracts formerly belonging to Chavez. [CHAVEZ - says he and workers won't give into Teamsters without fight.]
