[Los Angeles city cnclman. Hal BERNSON - comments.] Severity of predicted major earthquake hitting Los Angeles area discussed; city's state of preparedness examined. [Cal. Tech. seismologist Kate HUTTON - comments.] Resident's apathy towards quake preparedness said illustrated by aftermath of 1933 earthquake; experience of W.C. Fields at that time and his response recalled. Scenes from Fields' movie during quake shown.
