[US Ambassador Deane HINTON - tells of action with regard to senior officer.] Ofr. identification as Lieutenant Colonel Harry Melander. Firm oral reprimands said given others who were carrying rifles. Presence of Senators Claiborne Pell and Patrick Leahy noted. Scenes shown. [LEAHY - says he got along badly with Defense Min. Jose Guillermo Garcia.] Pell and Leahy reported to confer with rebel leaders in Mexico City tomorrow.
