(Studio) Social Security reported big factor in 1983 budget battle.

(DC) Ronald Reagan shown peddling financial wares to bankers and financial persons. Republicans said rejecting some ideas of Peter Domenici with regard to finding savings at expense of Social Security [Representative Trent LOTT - blames Democrats for problem.] [Representative Robert MICHEL - suggests isolating Social Security and proceeding to form budget without that factor.] [Representative Leon PANETTA - at committee meeting, says Social Security can't be set aside.] Social Security as political issue considered possibly necessitating action by lame-duck session of Congress after 1982 elecs.
