(Middletown, Pennsylvania) Grand jury indictment of Metropolitan Edison Company for falsification and destruction of Three Mile Island safety records prior to maj. 1979 accident there examined. [US attorney David QUEEN - explains basis of criminal charges against Metropolitan Edison.] NRC, reopening its own investigation last year, said not commenting on indictment. [GPU Nuclear Corporation spokesperson Douglas BEDELL - defs. Metropolitan Edison's operation of TMI.] [TMI Alert spokesperson Joann DORESHAW - feels indictment proves need to not reopen TMI.] Maximum penalty should company be convicted noted.
