Adelman as director of arms control agency before sending nomination on to full Senator [Senator Howard BAKER - proposes compromise.] Testimony of "New York Daily News" journalist Ken Auletta on Adelman's remarks that arms negotiations are a "sham" noted. [AULETTA - verifies Adelman's 1981 comments.] [ADELMAN - denies remark.] [AULETTA - responds.] [Senator Paul TSONGAS - believes Adelman is symbol benefiting USSR .] President Reagan said remaining committed to Adelman.
