(Studio) Judge John J. Parker, nominated by President Herbert Hoover in 1930, only Supreme Court nominee to be turned down by Senate. President Nixon still insists on Judge Clement Haynsworth's confirmation.

(DC) Senator Robert Griffin says he'll vote against Judge. He led attack on Abe Fortas. Senator Margaret Chase Smith also spoke against Haynsworth. [Senator Birch BAYH - says thought Attorney General is people's attorney, not just President' Nothing but runaround from Justice Department] Latest vote guess is 46-46, with 8 undecided.
