(Studio) Israelis violently protest government's austerity program.

(Tel Aviv, Israel) Labor party and labor unions at odds over new plan. Prime Min. Itzhak Rabin asks for union's support for program, but in end, union votes cost of living bonus to offset austerity program. Without compromise, wage dispute could bring down Rabin's government Many Israelis think austerity plan very painful but also very necessary. Violent protest broken up by riot police.
