(Studio) CBS "News-New York Times" poll on debate performances of George Bush and Geraldine Ferraro last night reported.

(Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) Bush's description of his debate performance as "kicking ass" noted; cands.' general debate performances reviewed. [Last night, BUSH, FERRARO - present their positions.] CBS "News-New York Times" post-debate poll outlined on screen, discussed. [Last night, BUSH - claims Mondale-Ferraro believe Marines died in shame in Beirut.] [Last night, FERRARO - denies that position.] [Today, MONDALE - demands apology from Bush.] Bush, despite lack of substantiation, said continuing to accuse Mondale-Ferraro of denigrating Marines' deaths. [BUSH - refuses to apologize, claims his accusation is correct.] [President REAGAN - agrees, asserting Democrats allege Marines died in vain.] Many parents of slain Marines said agreeing sons' deaths were in vain.
