(DC) Artificial heart recipient William Schroeder's complaints about Social Security delay in his disability payments, during telephone conversation with President Reagan yesterday, recalled. [Yesterday, SCHROEDER and REAGAN - discuss his problem.] Schroeder's Social Security check reported hand-carried to him in Louisville by Social Security employee today. [Social Security SPOKESPERSON - presents Schroeder with check.] [Social Security commissioner Martha McSTEEN - acknowledges process was speeded up somewhat.] [Social Security WORKER - is amazed check arrived so soon.] [Social Security APPLICANT - wishes administration would be as helpful with others.] Reagan's intervention in other situations recalled.
