(Studio) Update given on condition of artificial heart recipient William Schroeder, in Louisville.
REPORTER: Dan Rather
(Louisville, Kentucky) Schroeder's wife, Margaret Schroeder, reported claiming improvement in husband's condition. [Margaret SCHROEDER - comments.] Humana Hospital photos shown. Schroeder's stroke mentioned. Brain damage suffered by both Schroeder and earlier heart patient, Barney Clark noted. [Heart surgeon Dr. William DeVRIES - says future patients must consider brain damage a risk in the procedure.]
