(Columbus, Ohio) President Reagan's appearance before National Association of Evangelicals today featured; films shown. [REAGAN - promotes prayer in school; claims Constitution allows Nazis and Ku Klux Klan to promote racial hatred on public property.] Evangelicals and fundamentalists said primary target for Reagan's reelec. campaign; percentage of 1980 voters who identification themselves as white, born-again Christians voting for Reagan recalled. [Reagan campaign director Ed ROLLINS - acknowledges such groups are important to campaign] Reagan's controversial remark on USSR to National Evangelical Association last year recalled. [1983, REAGAN - refers to "evil empire."] [Association spokesperson Bob DUGAN - feels President believes what he says.] [Today, REAGAN - will deal with USSR as we must.] [DUGAN - rationalizes administration's lack of Evangelical issues such as abortion and tuition tax credits.] Implications for such issues of Supreme Court vacancies expected to arise during next president term noted.

[Reagan-Bush campaign spokesperson James LAKE - notes President's opposition to federal intervention.] President's campaign's acceptance of Federal Election Commission campaign funds examined. [LAKE - ests. amount of federal and private funds for campaign] Amt. received by Reagan for primaries, convention and general campaign graphed on screen; when combined with amount Reagan received for his 1976 and 1980 campaigns., President said 1st candidate recing. $100 million in taxpayer campaign funds. Source of funds, from income tax form, explained; President and Nancy Reagan recalled always refusing to contribute to election fund.
