(Studio) Ford Motor Company to lay off additional 8700 workers next week 1 out of 4 United States auto workers affected by economy slump.

(Lyons, Michigan) Lyons, Michigan, home of Chrysler plant. Most people in Lyons worked for Chrysler; work force reduced to 79 people today. [Village pres. Harry ROGERS - says economy slump hurts worst when it hits home.] Jack and Linda Proctor both laid off from Chrysler. [Linda PROCTOR - takes consolation in fact she's not only 1 affected by auto industry slump.] [Jack PROCTOR - says he's trapping now to help bring some money in for Christmas.] [Bank manager Ernest BATES - says bank to bend backwards to work with townspeople.]
