(Studio) Egypt reported promising safe passage to PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization) terrorists after their surrender, ending hijacking of Italian cruise ship Achille Lauro; murder of hostage Leon Klinghoffer by terrorists said officially unconfirmed.

[Earlier, Italian amb Giovanni MIGLIUOLO - claims terrorists left ship this afternoon without harming anyone.] Italian officials said unaware at the time of Klinghoffer's murder. [Egyptian foreign MIN. - denies United States was involved in negotiations.] Apparent influence of PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization) representatives on terrorists, believed members of PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization) faction, Palestine Liberation Front, considered. [PLO chairperson Yasir ARAFAT - claims opposition to hijacking, punishment of terrorists.]
