(Studio) Med. schools fight losing battle with high costs. Senator Jacob Javits intros. legislature to create $100 million Emergency Relief Fund to keep medical schools operating.

(NYC) New York Med. School in trouble. Hospital loses $210,000 month New York University School of Medicine began losing with start of Medicaid plan. [New York University Med. School Director Dr. Ivan BENNETT - says lose $26 day for each day to Medicaid patient. Have to discourage Medicaid patients.] Admin. cut $60 million from Med. Aid. programs. Aid to students cut in 1/2. [BENNETT - cites receiving $106,000 rather than $236,000, after commitments had already been made to students. Takes 10 years to be practicing Dr.] Hospital administration welcomes Javit's bill.
