(Studio) Fighting in Mid. E. escalates. Syrian, Israeli air battles intense. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger in Jerusalem, Israel, in effort to stop shooting.
REPORTER: Howard K. Smith

(Jerusalem, Israel) [KISSINGER - says he wants to discuss security, not concessions with Israelis.] Disengagement talks very different for Syria and Israel. Kissinger must handle situation delicately or risk Israeli break with United States. Mrs. Kissinger tours Jerusalem while husband in meeting talks continue into night at Israeli foreign minister Abba Eban's home; disengagement negotiations to be very difficult.
