(Tokyo, Japan: Barry Petersen) Japanese farmers shown protesting United States efforts to import produce into Hokkaido, Japan in 1987. Japan noted buying more United States goods than other countries. [Parliament member Koichi KATO - says Japan has bought enough from United States farmers.] Successful United States complaint to Geneva, Switzerland, General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) reviewed. [United States trade representative Clayton YEUTTER - comments on United States victory with GATT.] United States strategy noted effort to reduce trade deficit.
