(DC: Rita Braver) Admin. reported agreeing to drop drug-trafficking indictment against Panamanian general Manuel Noriega in exchange for his departure from Panama. Admin. sources quoted with regard to meeting at White House and Justice Department's concern with regard to move. State Department negotiator reported in Panama working out remaining details with Noriega. Indictments and subsequent events recalled.
