(Studio) Judge Otto Kerner asks for suspended sentence after being sentenced to 3 years for accepting bribes.
REPORTER: Harry Reasoner
(Chicago, Illinois) Kerner's attorney Thomas Patton argues for suspended sentence but Judge Robert Taylor refuses. United States attorney James Thompson thinks all white-collar criminals should go to jail. [KERNER - doesn't understand why he's going to jail.] [THOMPSON - states 1 standard for pols. and 1 for everyone else doesn't exist when it comes to law.] Kerner hasn't resigned seat on federal bench.
