[During Senate hearing, Attorney General Richard THORNBURGH - says he'll fire empls. who leak information to media; tells reporters they are responsible too.] [Reporters Committee spokesperson Jane KIRTLEY -defends reporters' use of confidential sources.] Gray recalled demanding leak investigation after CBS News story with regard to his empl. practices was broadcast [GRAY - comments on era of ethical McCarthyism.] Thornburgh noted asserting that Gray investigation was not politically motivated.
