(Moscow: Peter Van Sant) USSR President Mikhail Gorbachev reported ordering Lithuanians to turn in their firearms; details given of other measures the Kremlin is taking to ensure unity; scenes shown. [Lithuanian leader Algimantas CEKOULIS - says Kremlin retaliation is childish.] Lithuanian President Vytautas Landsbergis quoted regarding Joseph Stalin. [Princeton University's Stephen COHEN - comments on situation.] Supreme Soviet reported urging Gorbachev to assert his newly expanded presidential powers in Lithuania. [Supreme Soviet member Roy MEDVEDEV - (thru translator) says secession should not be easy.] Latvia reported expected to declare its independence within the month.
