(Studio) 1 out of every 3 auto workers out of work; with high concentration of auto industry in Michigan, state suffers high unemployment. State opens additional unemployment offices to distribute federal funds to those out of work.

(Detroit, Michigan) Unemployed discuss their plight. Federal programs to extend unemployment benefits 13 weeks and will offer benefits to many unemployed formerly ineligible for compensation. [Director Michigan employment, South Martin TAYLOR - says federal money crucial.] Thousands of persons not recing. any form of compensation; 1 out of 8 persons recs. some form of welfare assistance.
