(Tel Aviv: Bob Simon) Impasse over release of hostages and prisoners in the Middle East reported; details given of deal worked out by UN Secretary General Javier Perez de Cuellar in which Arab prisoners would be exchanged for complete information about two missing Israeli soldiers, including pilot Ron Arad, who parachuted into Lebanon in 1986 and is believed to be the only MIA (missing in action) alive. [Hostage negotiator Uri LUBRANI - accuses Hizballah of extortion.] Positions of Israeli and Hizballah on release of hostages outlined.
