(Studio) Report on President Ford's decision with regard to NYC.
REPORTER: Harry Reasoner

(DC) Ford meets with economy advisers. Press Secretary Ron Nessen hands out statement which says Ford's position unchanged. [NESSEN - says Ford will review matter next week if New York legislature makes progress to see if federal help appropriate.] Ford against long-term, large, predefault plan.
REPORTER: Tom Jarriel

(DC) New York City Mayor Abraham Beame visits Congress; he recs. word of no fed. help. [New York Governor Hugh CAREY - says New York City will pay her debts. Surge of confidence would occur across United States if Ford okayed bill for New York City aid. He's thrown weight of res. against good bill.] [Chairperson House Banking Committee Henry REUSS - says wants to cooperate with Ford.] Issue to be delayed until after Thanksgiving.
