(Studio) Senate Intelligence Committee to begin public hearings with regard to CIA and Chile.
REPORTER: Harry Reasoner
(DC) Ex-President Richard Nixon offers to testify if he's interviewed at San Clemente by only 2 Senators and if he can close off questions at any point. Senator Frank Church has reservations; committee split on issue. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and CIA Director William Colby refuse to talk in open session. Church not interested in forcing them to testify.
