(Studio) President Ford fires Defense Secretary James Schlesinger and CIA Director William Colby and replaces them with Don. Rumsfeld and George Bush. Ford asked Secretary of State Henry Kissinger to yield his job as chairperson National Security Council Vice President Nelson Rockefeller tells Ford not to consider him for `76 Vice President post. Ford calls news conference for 7:30 p.m. EST.

(DC) Vice President had been aware of pressure on Ford to drop him from ticket. He doesn't relish power as he once did. Ford's decision to let New York City default also had bearing on Vice President's decision.
