[Save Our Security Coalition MEMBERS - sing "Happy Birthday" to Social Security in a theatrical move.] [Representative Joe SCARBOROUGH - shouts angry warnings to Democrats.] [Senator Tom DASCHLE - comments on the budget amendment's threat to Social Security.] [Senator Bob DOLE - lambastes President Clinton and the Democrats.]

(White House: Rita Braver) President Clinton's opposition to the balanced budget amendment due to the threat to Social Security explained. [CLINTON - responds to the Republican attacks.] Republican television ads criticizing Democrats who changed their minds shown. [Republican National Committee Haley BARBOUR - obsequiously says that the American people lost out.] The Republicans' tripling of the deficit noted.
