(Tel Aviv: Bob Simon) The aftermath of yesterday's Palestinian elections won by PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization) leader Yasir Arafat featured; scenes shown of the debris of democracy in the streets of the Gaza Strip. [Election observer Jimmy CARTER - congratulates Arafat.] [Israeli government spokesman Uri DROMI, Palestinian Council member-elect Hanan ASHRAWI - react to the outcome.] The Israeli government said surprisingly inviting the leaders of Palestinian terrorist organizations to come to the West Bank and Gaza for the meeting of the Palestine National Council.
