Some Republicans reported supporting the increase despite Republican leadership opposition. [Representatives Amory HOUGHTON, Jack QUINN - say we will see a raise in the minimum wage this year.] [Representative John BOEHNER, Senator Bob DOLE - oppose the increase.] [Senator Edward KENNEDY, Vice President Al GORE - say Republicans are refusing what the people want.]
