(Baltimore: Wyatt Andrews) The second segment of a two-part investigation into the HMOs' policy of denying full treatment to cancer patients featured; details given as to how by withholding treatments to patients, HMOs are hindering key research in the fight of cancer. [HMO victims and leukemia patient Kelly SISERY, Johns Hopkins physician Dr. VOGELSANG, ovarian cancer patient Linda HENRY - say HMOs refuse to pay for clinical trial care that is the only chance of saving the patient's life.] The Johns Hopkins Cancer Center along with other top hospitals said having trouble finding research patients for clinical trials due to managed care policies. [[National Cancer Institute director Dr. Richard CLAUSNER, United Health Care Dr. Bernard MANNSHEIM - comment on the restraints on research.]
